Craft, Not Manufacturing

The art of weaving

The thread is spun

Raw cotton and mulberry silk are hand-spun into yarn.

The loom is set

Warp threads are strung by hand, sett by sett, for days.

The pallu takes shape

Zari and motifs are woven in, thread over thread.

The saree is born

Six yards, finished and checked by the weaver's own hand.

Pragati Shelake

A Note From Our Founder

Founder's Note

Dear Handloom Lovers,

Welcome to Sutravapa – Threads of Timeless Bharat.

I am Pragati Shelake, founder of Sutravapa. My journey began with a simple belief: every authentic handloom saree carries the soul of its weaver, the heritage of its region, and a story that deserves to live on.

At Sutravapa, we travel across India's weaving clusters to thoughtfully curate authentic handwoven sarees from skilled artisans, with a commitment to authenticity, natural fabrics, craftsmanship, and quality.

Our aim is to help women build more conscious, plastic-free wardrobes by choosing natural, handwoven textiles over synthetic fabrics wherever possible.

Sutravapa is more than a saree brand. It is a celebration of Bharat's living textile heritage, a commitment to its artisans, and a step towards a more sustainable way of dressing.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Every saree you choose helps keep a tradition, a skill, and a story alive.

One weave. One artisan. One timeless story at a time.

With gratitude,

Pragati Shelake Founder, Sutravapa
